Who is ROKO?
In 1997, ROKO began training at ILLOI in Reunion in animation, scriptwriting, 3D, special effects, animation background painting, in-betweening, and advanced drawing modules. This rigorous technical training, consolidated by studies in Angoulême and Belgium with his European diploma, shaped his demanding approach to image and composition. In 2000, he worked as a graphic designer and series decorator for Studio Pipangaï, applying his skills to animation and perfecting his mastery of line and color. This professional background in animation nourished his personal artistic style, where technical precision and creative freedom harmoniously meet.
Reunion Street Art
In 2003, ROKO created a monumental fresco on the building of the Théâtre de Champ Fleuri, a major cultural venue located in Saint-Denis, the capital of Reunion. This urban intervention marked his commitment to Reunion street art and initiated a long series of mural projects with the LSA CREW, a collective of urban artists from the island. In 2019, he participated in the Réunion Graffiti Festival, a major event on the local scene that brings together island graffiti artists and muralists. These years of graffiti and mural art practice shaped his approach to vibrant color, dynamic composition, and space occupation, characteristics found in his canvases and paper creations.

Contemporary Cubism and Geometry
ROKO's current style is defined as contemporary cubism that reinterprets the codes of the historical cubist movement through the prism of street art and urban culture. His compositions deconstruct and reconstruct subjects into superimposed geometric planes, multiple angles, exploded perspectives that recall Picasso or Braque while injecting the raw energy and vibrant colors of graffiti. The year 2023 marks a turning point with the realization of his international recognition. Invited to the "9th Humanities and Arts Week" in Jiaxing, China, two of his canvases were exhibited at the Gansi International Art Center, and another in Shanghai in the cultural building in Hangzhou. This first Asian foray confirms the universality of his visual language beyond cultural borders. Selected among many artists to create a canvas on the theme of peace and justice – one of the 17 sustainable development themes – he exhibited in December 2023 in Dubai as part of COP28, a major global event.
Social Commitment and Themes
From these travels and international encounters, ROKO brings back an enriched, confirmed style, and above all a pronounced commitment to Art and Street art as carriers of messages. In March 2024, he exhibited in Paris at Galerie Nout Kaz, a showcase for Reunion art in mainland France. In June 2024, asked to design the Exo FM (Reunion radio) trophy, he applied his graphic universe to everyday objects. In July 2024, he participated in an exhibition in Malaysia for Art Bridge International. In October 2024, asked to create a canvas on school bullying, he brought this commitment to fruition in November with a monumental fresco at Sainte Anne school. These projects demonstrate an artist who uses his art as a vehicle for raising awareness of contemporary social issues: peace, justice, sustainable development, child protection.
The 7 Deadly Sins - 2025 Exhibition
In 2025, ROKO will exhibit a series dedicated to the 7 deadly sins at Galerie 33, a timeless theme that he reinterprets through his cubist and street art prism. This exhibition marks a new stage in his exploration of universal and philosophical themes, following his commitments to peace and justice. Each sin – pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, sloth – becomes a pretext for a complex composition where geometric shapes and saturated colors express human passions in their moral ambiguity.
